Can the Tabber widget automatically include a post thumbnail image in a "recent posts" tabbed list? In other words, the most recent posts are listed vertically in the tab, with a thumbnail to the left and the headline to the right.
Like the "most popular posts" listings on the right column of http://www.huffingtonpost.com/?
If so, how is this acheived?
If this is not possible with Tabber, do you know of a multi-tab plugin that does this well? I've searched around the Web, and have some I can try out, but I really value your opinion on which is the best way to go.

You could add this plugin and then put the widget into the Tabber Widget.
