Hello,

We would like to be able to periodically email all customers who have bought a membership, letting them know when there is new material available on the site. Is there a way to do that within Exchange and its add-ons? Or can you recommend a good way?

We're using the MailChimp add-on, but of course not everybody opts in to that list.

Thanks very much in advance.
Best,
Patty Ayers

Hi Patty,

There isn't a default way to do this in Exchange.  Benjamin (the "Professor" at WebDesign.com) does an iThemes Exchange weekly show every Tuesday at 3pm CT.  He actually talked about this very issue last week:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeqRbTTAvVc&list=UUhPXycSAGDUzBF-xMzMq6uA

In the video, Benjamin recommends going into Tools > Export and exporting the Payments.  This gives you a list of customers, their information and the items that they've purchased.  You can then manually add them to your list in MailChimp, even to individual product lists.

One of the things Benjamin talked about the text asking your customers to sign up for your email.  I don't know what text you have there now, but instead of the default, "Sign up to receive updates via email!", you might try something like, "Notify me when new content is available!"

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks,

Elise

Thanks very much, I thought that might be the case. Ok, we'll do it manually for now. Can I make feature requests somewhere?

Best,
Patty

Hey Patty,

This is already a feature request which you can vote for on the Exchange Roadmap.

In future, though, you can always submit feature requests here:  http://ithemes.com/exchange/feature-request/

Thanks,

Elise

Thanks, Elise, I didn't know about that. Done!

All set for now - appreciate your help!

Patty
