I'm wondering if Exchange will work for this:

- Pre-orders - sign up, submit credit card info, get a confirmation email. Ability to log in later to cancel if needed.

- Physical book orders - Inventory, shipping calc, tax, order status etc

- E-book orders - purchase and download

- coupons - ability to have a 100% off coupon for a free book or friends / family promo

The other thing the client needs is the ability to have someone signup for a free chapter download. Maybe that could be a product with a price of "free"?

Hi Jeff,

There isn't a Pre-order option at this time in Exchange.  It is a feature request which you can vote for on the Exchange Roadmap, though.  

With the Physical Products add-on (a core add-on in Exchange), you can create a physical product for your book and can track your inventory in the Advanced settings for your product.  Simple Shipping is also a core add-on in Exchange and allows you to create a flat rate shipping fee and offer free shipping.  There isn't an option to calculate shipping based on customer's location, etc.  We are currently working on shipping and you'll see a number of feature requests for shipping on the Roadmap as well.

There is a core add-on for taxes, Simple Taxes, and we have the Easy US Sales Taxes, Easy Canadian Sales Taxes and the Easy EU Value Added Taxes premium add-ons you can purchase as well.  

We also have a Digital Downloads core add-on built-in to Exchange you can use for your ebooks.  And there is a Coupons add-on included in Exchange as well.

You can create free products in Exchange.  You could create a Digital Download product that only includes one chapter of the book and offer it for free as sample of the book.
