Hello!

I'm new to this plugin, but have set it up with the intention of selling ebooks. Firstly, I had used product with a ZIP download, but the download appeared to be corrupt, because the file downloaded appeared to be "empty".

So I tried a few different combinations (ZIP files, epub files, mobi files, pdf files, and jpg and gif images).

I've tested some variants, including uploading files to my WordPress installation:

Test: http://penrefe.com/product/test-product-unmotivated-octopus/
Link to image: http://penrefe.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/unmotivated-octopus.gif

And uploading files uploaded to Dropbox:

Link to image: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xmnvpoqnbs7s15l/IMG_20140814_130009.jpg

The order goes through fine, and I get the receipt e-mail with download links, which work, but then the file I get won't open.

(The test products are free, if you want to try and replicate the problem!)

Any suggestions? Pulling my hair out here; feeling a bit like that octopus! :D

Many thanks.

Hi penrefe,

Welcome to Exchange!

Can you try testing for a plugin conflict?  To do this, you'd deactivate all of your plugins except for Exchange and then see if it works properly.  If you have a cache plugin installed, be sure to empty the cache before deactivating.  If it works properly with all of your other plugins deactivated, reactivate your other plugins one at a time, testing Exchange each time to see which plugin is creating the conflict.

Can you also contact your host and make sure that the allow_url_fopen setting is enabled?

Give that a try and let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Elise

By the way, I like the octopus gif.  I've had days like that too!  :)

Hi Penrefe,
Did you ever find a solution to this problem? It seems I'm running into the same thing with my downloads: http://www.burningheartyoga.com/shop
