I'd like to use backup buddy to create a staging site for development and testing. I see that Backup Buddy has the ability to deploy/migrate an installation, which could work for my needs, I just have a few questions/concerns.

My production website has Stripe scheduled payments that happen via WordPress itself. That means WordPress code will try to bill people. If that's left turned on in the staging site, people will be double billed. I'd like to be able to replace the production API keys with test API keys during the creation of the staging site. I saw that you have URL replacement. Is there a feature that allows for any database value to be changed, like these API keys?

I'd like this to be as close to a 1-click process as possible so my admin could click a button and start deploying a new version of the staging site. I'm comfortable writing a script to initiate the migration process, if Backup Buddy allows for something like that.

I'd also like the ability to activate certain plugins and deactivate others after staging is deployed. For example, I want wp_mail to be turned off in staging. I have a plugin that does this for me but I need to automatically activate it when the staging site is created. Again, I can include this in my own script, if Backup Buddy will allow for that.

Hi MichaelApproved,

Currently not possible though we are investigating this type of thing.

Welcome to the forums. Be sure to post your questions in the correct forum and don't forget about the new and improved search function located in the top right of the forum pages. The gear/wheel symbol next to the search box will give you more options for advanced searching. Thank you and have a nice day.

I am curious if you found a way to do the deployment to live production (easily) with backup buddy or some other plugin.

I have a similar situation where an authenticated preview site needs to go through internal auditing before it can be deployed to live production.
It would be nice if this was a reasonably quick and easy process as IT will be handling this deployment, not me.

Please let me know if you happened to come up with a different plan for this.

Thanks in advance.
