Confusion on date graphic

I am very new to both ithemes and blogging. I bought the flex theme and have started putting together my site but i cant figure out how to add the graphical representation of the date when i put a new post on. it is very cool graphic. It lists the month on top and the day on the bottom. Just cant figure out where to click for that graphical representation instead of another format. I know a newbie question but really trying to figure this out.
