Free BuddyPress Webinar June 23 with Lisa Sabin-Wilson

For the last couple of weeks, we’ve been promoting BuddyPress, a set of open source plugins for WordPress that allow you to build a social networking WordPress site, through giving away BuddyPress for Dummies signed books along with our recent beta integration with iThemes Builder.

So we decided to ask our good friend, Lisa Sabin-Wilson, author of BuddyPress for Dummies and owner of E.Webscapes, to give a free online workshop about BuddyPress for our community.

In this webinar, you will discover the following:

  • What BuddyPress is …. and what it isn’t
  • The features available within BuddyPress
  • How each of the features work to create a social network on your site
  • How different web sites are using BuddyPress today to power their own social community

Comments

  1. Awesome intro to BuddyPress seminar….thanks! Is there a BP community forum site that you can recommend, for us to continue asking questions and learning?

  2. Hi Lisa,

When you were answered the SEO question you mentioned something that would protect the members comments (etc.) from being indexed and appearing in the search engines. Is that a plugin? How do I protect a member’s privacy?

    Thanks,
    Carol Cody

  3. Can the BP search be made into an “advanced search” where a
person can search for particular answers to particular profile fields, there by pulling up only profiles of people that share their specific interests?

  4. Cory and team, you are rocking it with these live webinar events hosted through WebDesign.com. Lisa Sabin-Wilson (aka LSW) was an awesome choice for presenter today. Thank you for all you do in support of the WordPress community. Kudos!

  5. Perhaps it’s only me and no one else had difficulty.

SUGGESTION: Although the information was GREAT and I very, very much appreciate the free offerings you provide, (so why do I complain???) the sound system used to produce this Webinar couldn’t have been a professional system. Not in the slightest. You may wish to enhance that aspect of your offerings in the future. It takes away from the already proven professionalism of your company.

  6. Just wanted to say a big THANKS for the BuddyPress for Dummies book I won during the seminar. I read the first few chapters last night and Lisa writes and explains very well – it’s going to be really helpful as I explore adding BuddyPress to my site.

It’s neat that Lisa autographed the book, too! I feel special.
