BackupBuddy 3.0 Limited Beta is Here!

Just wanted to give an update on BackupBuddy 3.0 that has been in the works for several months now.

We’ve been hard at work on the development of BackupBuddy 3.0 (code name Project Badger) and we’re proud to officially announce the release of BackupBuddy 3.0 Limited Beta to all of our PluginBuddy Developer Suite and Toolkit customers … because we know you love our products and will thoroughly test them.

BackupBuddy 3.0 includes some exciting new features, including “magic migration,” backup statistics, a new framework and extensive troubleshooting. Check out this blog post for the full list of new 3.0 features.

This customer group is among the first outside of our team and a few trusted individuals to get access to test BackupBuddy 3.0, so we’re asking for their feedback during this beta trial. While we’ve spent months testing BackupBuddy 3.0 internally, this feedback is extremely helpful to the release of BackupBuddy 3.0 to the general public.

We’re asking that these customers follow these steps to test BackupBuddy 3.0 and leave feedback:

  • After logging into the iThemes Member Panel, scroll to the bottom of your list of subscription files. You’ll see “Project Badger” has been added to the list. Click this link to begin the download of BackupBuddy 3.0 Limited Beta.
  • IMPORTANT: DO NOT TEST THIS SOFTWARE ON LIVE SITESFeel free to test away on development environments such as test sites.
  • We’ll be pushing out automatic updates as we make adjustments from your feedback, so check back periodically to update “Project Badger” from your WordPress dashboard.
  • The deadline for BackupBuddy 3.0 beta feedback is Wednesday, May 30th @ (5pm CDT).

Our hope is that we get great feedback to make sure the official public release of BackupBuddy 3.0 is rock solid. The faster and more thorough feedback we receive the faster we can get new versions coded and tested out into the wild!

(By the way – big huge kudos to Dustin Bolton, lead developer of BackupBuddy for tireless effort on Project Badger!)

  1. Hi Guys,

I have bought your BackupBuddy plugin and 1st off THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! It worked flawlessly and with a little help from your support team I got it all transferred from my old domain lacefront-wig.com/blog to my new one: wealthyhair.com/blog but now I have just realized that now I have to do a 301 redirect from every url from my old blog domain name to my new blog domain name. And since they are both identical in the url structure except the beginning domain name part, I would not think it would be that challenging to do the 301 redirect to them. BUT I have soooooo many url’s and it is going to take me a month to do them all one by one. So with all of that said do you know of or have you made some sort of a plugin that will somehow find every possible url from my old site (like a sitemap or something?) and input that into a 301 redirect form and then also have it were all of the corresponding new domain name urls are matched up with the old ones and imputed into 301 redirect to form? Maybe it could work with one of these 2 plugins?:

    or this one

Sorry to put so many links on this post but this is something that is VERY important so Google does not see our new blog as a crazy amount of duplicate content.

  2. I’m working on a multi-site, and it took a week to get the site just where I wanted it. I then needed to duplicate that site within the multi-site.

What would have been a tedious chore at best, was 5 minutes of work for each site. Unreal.

And you’re actually making it better. I can’t wait. Thanks.
