Free WordPress Web Design Workshop, June 11–13

Are you ready for a comprehensive course to help get you off the starting blocks and into the journey of building sites with WordPress? Get ready for the WordPress Web Design Workshop from WebDesign.com, June 11–13, 2013. During this free online course, Benjamin Bradley, the Professor at WebDesign.com, will walk through everything you need to know to get a solid foundation for designing and developing with WordPress.

Here’s a quick overview of the webinar schedule and sessions (with registration links for each):

Session 1: What REALLY is WordPress?

Tuesday, June 11, 2013 – 1pm (CDT)

This session will explain the relationship between PHP and MySQL and that WordPress is essentially a “pretty face” for a MySQL database.

Session 2: The History of the Post and the Difference from a Page

Tuesday, June 11, 2013 – 3pm (CDT)

By understanding some WordPress history, we can understand why everything is a “post” in WordPress. We will also learn about hiearchy, taxonomies, and ordering.

Session 3: Setup WordPress with Minimal Fuss

Tuesday, June 11, 2013 – 5pm (CDT)

Learn the necessary (and sometimes hidden) options you need to set in order to work with WordPress.

Session 4: Cracking the Mystery of Themes While Getting Loopy

Wednesday, June 12, 2013 – 1pm (CDT)

By understanding how different theme pages have built-in hierarchy, and how template tags dictate how content is displayed, you will understand theme construction. This session will also cover the basics of the WordPress Loop so you’ll be better prepared to customize any WordPress theme.

Session 5: Working with Images

Wednesday, June 12, 2013 – 3pm (CDT)

The WordPress Media Library can be both useful and frustrating. Learn how to make the best use of this built-in resource.

Session 6: Extend WordPress

Wednesday, June 12, 2013 – 5pm (CDT)

Learn the differences and rationals between using a theme’s functions.php file and using a plugin to extend WordPress.

Session 7: Menu and Widget Freedom

Thursday, June 13, 2013 – 1pm (CDT)

Learn how to use the WordPress menu system to create useful navigation systems for your site. We’ll also cover the possibilities of widgets.

Session 9: Managing Users

Thursday, June 13, 2013 – 3pm (CDT)

The capabilities of managing users can be unnecessarily confusing but through this session attendees will learn how to take advantage of WordPress user roles and how this can expand the capabilities of different sites.

Session 10: Building with Builder

Thursday, June 13, 2013 – 5pm (CDT)

This final session will show how easy it is to work with WordPress when using iThemes Builder because of Builder’s Layouts, Views, Extensions and more.

We hope to “see you” during the WordPress Web Design Workshop, June 11–13!
