Your favorite WordPress backup plugin just got even better today! We’re excited to announce BackupBuddy 6.0 just landed with Deployment (Beta) and Google Drive Integration.
Introducing Deployment – Push or Pull Changes from One WordPress Site to Another in as Few As Two Clicks
BackupBuddy Deployment is a new beta feature in BackupBuddy 6.0 that allows you to easily push or pull a site’s database, media files, plugins and active theme back and forth between two WordPress sites (for example: to/from a WordPress staging (test) site to a live site).
This allows you to develop on one site and then push changes to another, so you never have to develop on a live site again!
With BackupBuddy’s new Deployment functionality, you can use the “BackupBuddy Deployment” Remote Destination to push or pull your entire site to or from another existing site, in as few as two clicks.

Deployment Feature Overview
- See differences in site server settings, active plugins, theme, versions and media prior to deploying.
- Options to transfer the database (all tables, some, or none), plugins, theme and/or media.
- Automatic migration of URLs, paths and other settings just like manual migrations.
- Watch the deployment progress just like a normal backup, displaying a continuous status including a detailed advanced status log of the entire process, all in one place.
- Ability to undo the database changes with one click if something goes wrong prior to confirming the deployment once you’re satisfied.
- Automatic chunking of data transferred between servers to support large files or slow servers.
- Swaps databases only after the entire database and all files have been transferred to attempt to minimize site downtime to mere seconds (or less!).
- Perfect for developing your site in a different location from the live site.

It looks like one of my cant-live-without plugins just got better! I already use the local destination for dev/staging site creation but a remote site option is nice to have when it’s not possible to use local due to access restrictions or if server is low on resources! And also the ability to have more control over what is transferred is nice!
I’m looking forward to test the Performance & Reliability improvements as that is where I’m having issues with constant emails about timed out backups or remote transfers on different sites.
Well done on the features list!!
Thanks, Ben!
Out of the blue I decided to see if Google Drive integration was on the roadmap (as last I looked it wasn’t), and lo-and-behold, not only do you have Google Drive integration, you’ve added deployment functionality, and significant backend improvements!
I have been toying around with a few other WP management and backup solutions, but with this latest update you’ve won me over, my other services will be cancelled and all sites moved to iThemes! Great work guys and gals!
Thanks, Sean!!
I was initially concerned with the lack of updates for BackupBuddy as it seemed like Updraftplus was going to take the lead. But then came the sweet notification that BB now has Google Drive and deployment. Amazing 🙂 Please do consider incremental backups perhaps via cron or some other way
Good to see the Google drive integration. I really love this plugin, currently using 10 sites license and looking to upgrade the plan for my other sites as well.
BackupBuddy is a great plugin. Nice to hear about this update. Keep going! Thanks!
