We wanted to take some time and give you a quick update from the iThemes Security team. We have an exciting release coming to iThemes Security, a long-overdue change, and we will end with a big thank you for helping us reach an important milestone.
iThemes Security is Active on 1 Million Sites!
Thank you for helping iThemes Security reach the milestone of 1 million WordPress websites! We are thrilled and grateful that you have trusted iThemes Security and iThemes Security Pro to secure and protect over 1 million sites.
We do not take your trust and confidence for granted. We are more committed than ever to develop creative ways to help secure your site without diminishing the experience you so carefully crafted for the people visiting your website.
The iThemes Site Scanner is coming to iThemes Security (Free)
As we recently announced, we have replaced the previous malware scan functionality in iThemes Security Pro with the new iThemes Security Site Scan.
Now the free version of the iThemes Security plugin available on the WordPress.org plugin repository will also include the new iThemes Site Security Site Scan.
This move to a security scan powered by iThemes Security allows us to increase the success rate of scans and create integrations with existing iThemes Security features.
- The first version of the Site Scan coming to the free iThemes Security plugin will alert you to any malware found my the Google Safe Browsing API, as well as your current Google Blocklist status.
- The Site Scan in the Pro version of iThemes Security includes the malware and blocklist status check as well as automatic vulnerability checks and patching.
In the future, you can expect to see an integration with an upgraded version of iThemes Security’s File Change Detection feature that will provide file-level malware scanning. Check out the recent release post on the iThemes Site Scan to learn more about our plans for future iThemes Security Site Scan releases.
Why We Are Removing Racially Insensitive Terms
Terms like whitelist and blacklist infer that white is good and black is bad, and that simply isn’t true. So with that in mind, we are replacing these racially insensitive terms with authorized list and blocklist. I don’t have anything else to add to the conversation that hasn’t already been said eloquently by people more qualified than me. We apologize we didn’t make this change sooner.
We can’t overstate how grateful we are that so many of you have entrusted iThemes Security to help protect your site. iThemes Security will continue to evolve and be the best WordPress security plugin to secure and protect your site.
Together we can create a safe, secure, and inclusive WordPress community.
