The Events Calendar Plugin is Joining the Liquid Web Family

Written by Matt Danner on January 6, 2021

Last Updated on January 6, 2021

I’m so excited about today’s announcement that Liquid Web, the parent company of iThemes, has acquired The Events Calendar plugin and the team behind it from Modern Tribe.

I wanted to share my thoughts with you and let you know why I’m so happy to have the team from The Events Calendar joining the family of Liquid Web brands.

The Events Calendar Joining Liquid Web Family

Why We Love the Events Calendar

The Events Calendar is just an awesome plugin. Anyone who has used it knows it’s an incredibly easy to use, yet extremely powerful solution for calendaring and ticket sales for your WordPress website.

1. A Complete Solution for Events & Ticketing for WordPress Sites

First, I love that they’ve created an ecosystem of individual products that can work together to be an end-to-end solution for calendars, ticketing and managing events from start to finish.

For example, is your air guitar duo starting to do more online concerts for both of your fans while venues are shut down? (I know mine is.) Ok, maybe more realistically, your business has virtual or in-person seminars, galas, or conventions (if you need a good air guitar duo to play your next event, hit me up).

You can use their Calendar, Tickets, and Promoter plugins together to get your next event from idea to reality quickly and easily.

2. An Awesome Team

The second and maybe most important reason I’m excited about this acquisition is the team that’s coming with the plugins. Over the last few months, I’ve gotten to know some of the team over at The Events Calendar like Zach Tirrell, the General Manager. Zach and his team have created a culture that reminds me a lot of our team and community at iThemes. They’re incredibly smart folks who are dedicated to helping their customers find the right solutions to the problems they face with online events.

Just like when Liquid Web acquired iThemes, The Events Calendar’s team will continue to function as an independent business unit led by Zach.

What This Means for iThemes

Although I see a ton of collaboration in our future, iThemes and The Events Calendar are not becoming a single team, and our products are not (currently) going to be sold together. None of the plugins related to The Events Calendar will be part of the iThemes bundles (like the Plugin Suite or Agency Bundle).

Check Out The Events Calendar

If you haven’t already, go check out The Events Calendar’s website and read their post about the announcement. Also, be sure to keep an eye on what we collaborate on together in the future. The best way to keep in touch is to make sure you sign up for our email newsletter and follow us on Twitter.
