The Membership Add-on for iThemes Exchange includes some handy new features for dripping content to your members from your WordPress membership site. Beginning in version 1.18 of the Membership Add-on for Exchange, you can set up rules to delay content on a specific date, and apply “dripping” by date to posts, pages, categories, tags, custom post types and more.
New Content Access Option: Drip Content by Date
Make sure you’re running iThemes Exchange 1.35+ and iThemes Exchange Membership 1.18+. Once you’ve updated, Exchange will need to perform a small upgrade for the new version of the Membership Add-on, so follow the prompt to upgrade Membership Rule Exemptions and Member Access.
Now, when you edit or create a membership product, you’ll see a new option in the Content Access section.
Beginning in version 1.18 of the Membership Add-on, you can now drip (or delay) content on a specific date for all members.
This is helpful for people who want to have scheduled released content, and can be used for courses (we’ll be improving this soon with dripping by week of the year, or day of the week).
Just select the “Date” option and use the date picker to assign a date to the content item in your membership Content Access Rules. You can currently drip posts, pages, categories, tags, products and custom post types.
This table helps explain the difference between the “Drip” and (new) “Date” options for delaying content:
|CONTENT ACCESS OPTION||WHAT IT DOES||EXAMPLES OF HOW TO USE IT|
|Drip||Content is available X days (or weeks, or months) after the purchase of the membership||Guided online courses, personal training (meal plans, exercise routines, etc.), coaching|
|Content becomes available on a specific date, for all members||Scheduled released content, such as online courses|
To see the difference, if you select “Drip,” you can select the number of days, weeks or months to delay access to the content, rather than by a specific date.
Now, when a member logs in, they’ll be able to see their upcoming membership content items and a note of when they’ll become available.
New: Product Restriction and Delay Messages
Restriction messages and delay messages can now be specified per-membership. The Restricted Content Message is the note the customer will see when they try to access restricted content. The Delayed Content Message shows the member when the restricted content will become available to them.
From a Membership product, click the “Advanced” button. In the Membership Information tab, you can select to Override the Restricted Content Message and/or override the Content Delayed Message.
You can now customize these messages with different text other than what is set up in the Membership Add-on’s blanket settings (those are available from Exchange > Add-ons page if you click the settings gear next to the Membership Add-on).
