The iThemes Exchange Membership Add-on allows you to protect your WP post, pages, categories, tags, custom post types and more, based on membership status.
Once you’ve installed and activated the Membership Add-on, you will the see the option to Add Membership in the Exchange menu. If Memberships are the only product type you have enabled, you will just see Add Product.
Creating a membership product is similar to creating any other Exchange product type.
One of the unique features for the Membership product type is the Content Access. Content Access settings allow you to protect your content based on membership level. To get started, you have the option to create rules and groups.
Groups allow you to better organize your restricted content. To create a new group, click the New Group button and give your group a name.
To create rules, click the New Rule button. You’ll start by selecting the content type that you’d like to restrict, including posts, pages, categories and more. Next you’ll select the specific content you want restricted within that content type. Finally, you can set a delay for when your content is made accessible to the customer (this is also known as a drip content).
Once you’ve created your groups and rules, you can drag and drop the rules into the appropriate groups.
You can also restrict access directly from the post or page. In the right hand side of the page, you’ll find a Membership Access section. You can select your membership group from the drop down menu and even set a delay for when the content becomes available.
When you go back into your Membership product, you’ll see the new rules that you created on the post or page editor and can add them to the groups you created previously.
