iThemes Has A New General Manager

It’s a bittersweet moment for me as I announce, after 11 years, I’m leaving iThemes, on January 30, 2019. It’s been an amazing run and I’m looking forward to starting the next chapter of my professional life. But suffice to say, this decision was my choice, and I’m excited for the next chapter for iThemes — for the future of our team, our customers and our products. Rest assured, I’ll be rooting for the continued success of iThemes from the sidelines! You can read more about what’s next for me here. Liquid Web + iThemes = Go Farther Together

As you know, in January 2018, iThemes was acquired by Liquid Web, one of the premiere hosting companies on the planet. One of our compelling reasons for joining forces with Liquid Web was for the team to continue to operate as an independent business within Liquid Web and that the iThemes team and products could have a bigger future. I can honestly say the same things I said in this post a year ago about joining the Liquid Web team still hold true today. Not every acquisition goes smoothly (at least from what I hear and read about) … but I couldn’t have imagined a smoother one for us. Of course with any transition there are bumps, but the leadership at Liquid Web has worked hard to keep things steady and, in fact, make things better for iThemes. They continue to see great things for iThemes and more importantly to do the things that will keep it going into the future.

Matt Danner Taking Over as General Manager

When I shared that I’d be leaving iThemes, the leadership team went into action with several key moves to solidify that future for the iThemes team, products and customers. The first and biggest move the leadership team made was naming Matt Danner to the role of General Manager of iThemes. For 10 years now Matt has faithfully applied his immense talents to our work here and been my “second in command” for the last 8. However, anyone that knows Matt also knows he’s been running the show day to day for several years now. He knows our team, he knows our customers and he knows our products better than anyone. That’s why he’s the right person to take iThemes to the next level. The Liquid Web team recognized that and acted on it. They saw how good he is …. as well as his vast potential. And personally, as one of the best friends I’ve made in my life, I’m incredibly excited for him.[/pullquote] He’s more than earned it. He’s been doing it. Now he gets to spread his wings even further and show it to you. Rest assured, you’re in great hands with Matt at the helm of iThemes.

The Same Dedicated Team

The final compelling reason for me to believe the future is bright is the amazing team we have at iThemes. Last year we added two more to our rank of 20+ dedicated WordPress experts. And I’m sure there will be more in the coming months under Matt’s leadership. I’ve been extremely blessed to work with this talented group of people who “Make People’s Lives Awesome” every day at iThemes. Some of the proudest moments I’ve had over the last year is seeing our team work together with our new teammates at Liquid Web. The iThemes team has quickly garnered a pretty special reputation as being some of the best people to work with. The group who just gets stuff done and always wants to make it better.
