Reliable, set-it-and-forget it secure backups

A complete WordPress backup solution with secure, offsite archives

  • With just a few clicks, Solid Backups will archive an entire WordPress site from within its WordPress dashboard. Back up the database and file system or just the files, folders, and database tables you specify.

Then, send the encrypted backup files to a safe, secure location via email, S/FTP, or the cloud storage of your choice: Amazon S3, Google Drive, Dropbox, or Microsoft OneDrive. Use Solid Stash to create full backups of your site.

Roll back database changes and restore sites or individual files

  • Sometimes, you don’t need to restore an entire site — you just want to bring back a few files or an earlier database state.

With Solid Backups, you can view the contents of any text-based files (.php, .html, .htaccess, etc.) in your backup archives. Selectively restore or “undelete” individual files to their original location. Roll back your WordPress database with just a few clicks to recover deleted content or altered settings.

Set-and-forget secure scheduled backups

  • Create custom schedules for Solid Backups to archive all your sites and completely automate a major maintenance step. Set any schedule you need for a totally hands-free process. Run backups hourly, twice daily, daily, every other day, bi-weekly, weekly, and monthly.

You’ll get notifications when backups are complete, verifying their integrity. Stash is our secure off-site location for storing your backup files.

FAQ

Your Solid Backups purchase includes a one-year subscription for ticketed support from the Priority Support Team and updates to all new versions of the plugin we release while your subscription is active. After the one-year mark, the plugin is still yours to use, but we recommend renewing your subscription for continued access to updates, support, and new features.

Yes. Solid Backups backs up your WordPress database, plugins, files, themes, scripts, posts, settings, widgets, plugins, and everything else in the WordPress database and file system. You can optionally include additional database tables or exclude directories.

Solid Backups does not limit the size or scope of backup archives. However, your host server may be configured with limits that affect Solid Backups. Script timeout time, memory limits, CPU usage, and hard drive utilization can all influence backup capabilities. Solid Backups is intended for archiving WordPress sites — not entire servers or vast amounts of data when used on shared hosting. Shared hosting usually allows backups for a file system with a 400MB to 1.5GB footprint. This is simply a limitation of the hosting environment. You may need a more robust hosting plan to accommodate larger backup archives.

Solid Backups officially supports only the current and last major versions of WordPress. Solid Backups will work with older versions of WordPress with reduced or minimum core functionality. Still, we do not offer official support for versions of WordPress older than the last two major releases.

The minimum requirements for Solid Backups are a Linux server running PHP 7.2, Apache 2.2, and MySQL 5.1. Solid Backups supports common WordPress-supported alternatives to Apache (Nginx and Litespeed) and MySQL (MariaDB and MySQLi). Solid Backups only offers official support for Windows in local development environments, not on production servers.

We’ve worked to ensure that Solid Backups works flawlessly with most hosts, including shared hosting with limited resources. Solid Stash was developed with difficult hosts in mind and has been included for free since Backups 7.0 was released. If you run into problems or need help with Backups, our support team is ready to help from the Solid Support Desk.

Solid Backups works flawlessly with most hosts. However, some hosts are known to overload or poorly configure servers. Workarounds are available in almost all cases, but they may reduce Solid Backups functionality or involve some manual intervention. However, almost all hosting environments can work with Solid Backups. If a problem does occur, our support team will assist you with workarounds or communicate with your host to get issues resolved.

Once you’ve downloaded the Solid Backups plugin zip file, follow the standard WordPress plugin installation methods to upload and activate Backups on your WordPress site. After you’ve installed Backups, you’ll be prompted to enter your license code in the plugin settings to get automatic updates. Next, follow the Quick Setup wizard to complete your settings for email notifications, remote storage, and backup schedules.

Yes! Solid Backups allows you to easily move sites to a new host with new file paths and/or new URLs and a different domain or subdomain. Solid Backup’s import and migration process handles any needed changes in posts, settings, and configuration files. Solid Backups will update all references to the old domain, file paths, permalinks, and URLs for the destination site so nothing breaks and you don’t get 404 errors. Solid Backups will do all the heavy lifting for you — just follow the on-screen directions, and it will take care of all the work for you behind the scenes.
